Bartok - 18 Duos for 2 Cellos

Although the history of the development of the 44 duos for two violins confirms the educational purpose, the composer's intention was less to help the aspiring violinist to deal with purely technical problems than to train him in chamber music interaction. With a similar intention, in this edition 18 of Bela Bartok's 44 duos have been selected and arranged for two cellos. Another educational goal is the introduction to the most important elements of the folk music of Hungary and the surrounding countries in general and to Bartok's musical world in particular. The young musician will get to know and experience contemporary musical language, secure intonation and the discipline of making music together.
