An old church near Petajavesi forms the works starting point. Mustonen evokes its history in each of the works movements Die Kirchenbauer, Die Beruhrung des Heiligen, Damonen, Der heilige Christophorus and Apotheosis. After the community of Petajavesi in the heart of Finland had waited two years for permission to build the church, they began to build it themselves in 1763. The small wooden church in the style of a log cabin stands on a peninsula between two lakes and was listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 1994.
